VANCOUVER – A B.C. Mountie has been charged with three counts of assault in relation to a domestic incident.
RCMP Chief Supt. Brian Cantera says the charges have arisen from a “family situation.”
He says B.C. provincial court has imposed a publication ban on the identities of both the accused officer and the victim, which means there is “very little” the RCMP can presently disclose.
Media reports say the male officer is a high-ranking member of the force charged with one count of assault and two counts of assault with a weapon.
They say the charges stem from alleged incidents in February and were sworn on Monday.
The officer has been placed on administrative duties.
