TORONTO – Toronto police are warning the public to beware of illegal buttock enhancement procedures in the GTA.

Police said someone has been going around to women’s homes and hotel rooms performing dangerous buttock enhancements.

Police said arrangements are made via e-mail or by referral, then someone arrives and injects women with something advertised as polymethylmetacrylate (PMMA).

The procedure, which costs thousands of dollars, were paid for in cash.

Police said some women have developed serious medical complications, even needing to go the hospital.

Procedures like this performed outside a medical facility could even result in death.
