GUELPH, Ont. – A public funeral will be held Thursday to honour Guelph Police Const. Jennifer Kovach, who died last week after her cruiser crashed into a bus.
A service will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Sleeman Centre at 50 Woolwich St. in Guelph, according to a Guelph Police Service statement.
“The Kovach family has generously agreed to a public funeral to celebrate and remember the life of Jennifer,” the statement said.
Guelph police Chief Blair Larkin is expected to announce more details of the service, Monday.
Kovach, 26, was responding to a call to assist another officer when she apparently lost control of her cruiser and hit a Guelph Transit bus on the morning of March 14.
She died in hospital.

What a terrible tradegy. My heart goes out to Jennifer’s family. How do you go on following the loss of your daughter? Our community has lost a curageous and dedicated memeber. Every day our police officers do put themselves in harms way and this is our worst night mare for all.
God bless her and God help her family and loved ones.
Such a tragic ending and my condolences to her family in this sad time!
My sympathy and condolences to the Kovach family….it must be so hard for them to come to terms with the death of their daughter whose life was cut short at such a young age and so tragically. God may have had other plans for her.
