This is so entirely sad- a father loses his daughter plus now has a wife in critical condition and may still lose her too and all because of a selfish man who was drunk and had drugs on him. RIDICULOUS! With our system, this man may only face up to 4 years in prison (which is the “average” stay for someone with impaired driving causing death). The father/husband, meanwhile has a life sentence of pain. He can’t get his child back! Not only do we need to lock these guys up for a very long time but they NEVER should have access to a vehicle again. At 53, he has no “I was young and foolish” excuse too (not that youth should get someone off the hook). I wonder too if he’s had prior arrests? (which always makes me angry-one arrest should = jail time, no alcohol consumption ever again & monitoring for life).
people still don’t get the message. don’t drink and drive. you are putting other people life at risk and yours as well.
with our canadian law; he’ll get out in 5-10yrs
Five to ten years! If only. I have never heard of a judge sentencing a drunk driver to more than two years, even when the drunk driver caused someone’s death. We are simply not strict enough on these people.
To anyone out there who breaks down on the side of highway. DO NOT stay in your vehicle unless the cold is unbearable outside because drivers are attracted to driving behind cars on highways like moths to a flame. Regardless, if they are standing still.
Once a video a highway patrol officer stopping behind a car pulled over on the highway to warn them to stand away from their vehicle while waiting. They walk 20 feet off to the side and suddenly someone rear-ends the police car doing 100km/h
he’s a luckey man it was not my child !! i just don’t understand people !!
Unnecessary and unacceptable in todays modern society. Condolences to the parents and extending family and friends. A future life taken away. Sad
