Former mayoral candidate Sarah Thomson took to Facebook Saturday to address comments she has received after making inflammatory allegations against Mayor Rob Ford.
“So much hate from people today, yet it’s the supportive messages that have me in tears,” she wrote.
“So many women have been assaulted and I am ashamed that as publisher of Women’s Post I wasn’t aware of the extent of it. I will do better.”
In another post, Thomson thanked former Vaughan MPP Greg Sorbara for his support.
“Big thank you to Greg Sorbara your words of support mean a lot to me today,” she wrote.
Sorbara had come to Thomson’s defense on Friday after she claimed Ford made inappropriate comments and grabbed her “ass” at a gala event Thursday night.
“To me, it doesn’t sound like something she would just make up in order to get a little ink,” Sorbara told the Toronto Star. “Sarah was a very strong candidate, a very aggressive candidate, one who always wanted to speak her mind, and did.”
Sorbara also supported Thomson when she was running for the Ontario Liberals in the ward of Trinity-Spadina.

I lean my support towards Rob after seeing the many people who are gunning for him. It’s no different any place I have worked, if they can’t get you fair and square someone screams harrassment. Keep up the good work Rob. Love him or not at least he remains consistent with the public interest held close to his heart.

What is wrong with the people in this City? I’m not a huge fan of Rob Ford – he has to learn that he cannot give his constituents the finger and as Mayor of our City he should be setting a better example but he is cutting spending which was his platform and why he won the election. As a taxpayer, I am tired of paying for the legal fees every time Mr. Ford has to defend himself against these inane accusations. First the slander case: honestly, I’m more worried about the person who got the untendered bid than Ford wondering out loud why it happened. I certainly don’t understand how he could be taken to task, again at our expense, for using office letterhead to get donations for children’s football when the rest of the policitians, at all levels, are robbing us blind and none of them are taken to task. All that for collecting $3,000+ for the kid’s football while the rest of the politicians are having lunch, renovating their houses and taking trips at our expense and now the stuff with Sarah Thomson. I hope we don’t get stuck paying for lawyer fees for this one too. It seems to me like there is a personal vendetta against Ford at our expense. Save it for the next election please – if you don’t want him as mayor don’t vote for himat election time but stop all ths nonsense now!

I agree with you, I guess a lot of the people clamouring for his downfall are begging to pay higher property taxes, or they directly benefit from the inefficient use of tax payer money. What’s truly ironic is that the people who say he’s an embarrassment to the city because of the way he acts or looks are the same people who proudly wear pink on anti-bullying day. Where do they think the kids learn their behaviour from? Our society is being dumbed down at an alarming rate!
Ok, so on the news this am, not too long ago, she made herself sound like ONE BIG HIPROCRIT. She started off by saying that Ford has gone through so much and really didn’t want to add to it, but yet she posts this alleged assault on facebook? Then, she says, if I am lying he should sue me. So, if he doesn’t want to sue her, then she MUST be telling the truth? And then she goes on saying that if she were to offer advise to another in the same situation, she would recommend the police, of which she says is a complete waste of time…. She further goes on to say he “seemed as if he was on cocaine”, but not sure really, the when she “Googled” cocaine, she saw the same affects that Ford was displaying ie. Aggresiveness, Sweaty, talking fast….. Ford is an aggressive person, and looking at other displays of Ford, this certainly wouldn’t be the first time that he appears to be sweaty.
I think someone needs to set her story straight before putting it in the social media.
Mayor Ford is a great mayor trying to do a good job. He made one mistake with the raising of the money for his football team, and everyone is just trying to bring him down because they don’t like that he has stopped the “gravy train” at city hall. Give the man a break and let him do his job. If this is all found out to be false will she be charged?

Maybe she should have considered the consequences of posting on facebook instead of going to the police – i.e. doing things the right way.
Its a shame that she came out the way she did, but she never took this apparent assault seriously. Joking about it to other patrons, willing to send a friend to be a potential victim, the list goes on. Her inconsistencies is what sank her, and now she’s playing the, “If you dont believe me, you are sending a bad message to all people who lie in silence as victims?” I think if she had a legitimate case, then sympathy would be with her. Given she’s smiling in the pics, and changing her story consistently, it does not bode well for her. Her story has changed at least 5 times in 1 day. She was just enjoying the media tour, going from station to station.

Well what does she expect for airing it on a public outlet like Facebook? I neither condone nor condemn her for her choice, but from my experience, when you post things like to the general public, you’re not going to get a lot of sympathy.
Was the accusation addressed immediately, just as it happened?
Unacceptable behavious should not be tolerated and so should false accusations.

The two comments I read here are PART of the PROBLEM. “Oh look, she’s not pretty-why would anyone sexually assault her?!” Everyone knows the acts of sexual assault/rape are about POWER, not someone’s appearance or desirability. And oh yes, it’s such a BRILLIANT move to accuse someone of Mayor Ford’s stature to move your career ahead! The real “shame” here belongs to those who belittle Thomson for speaking out about a possible sexual violation.
What a sick world we live in that a possible assault victim gets treated like dirt. We’re BETTER than that. or so I thought.
