TORONTO – A 35-year-old man died Thursday due to injuries he sustained because he was hit by a van on Victoria Park Avenue, near Eglinton Avenue East, on Tuesday night.
The man was crossing Victoria Park, near Sunrise Avenue, around 9:30 p.m. with two friends when he was struck by a northbound vehicle. The driver of the van that hit the man called 911.
The three friends were heading to the Beer Store at the time. The two friends made it across the street safely. However, according to police, the two friends apparently continued on to the store rather than stopping and help their friend. They did eventually return, but only after purchasing beer.
Toronto police’s Traffic Services is investigating the collision. The van driver hasn’t been charged.

with friends like these……i’d rather have no friends
Friends? Are these friends of his? This is disgusting when alcohol plays a ‘more important role’ than helping a friend in need. That is sociopathic!
Will his “friends” now go to his funeral, or do they have more important things to do?
I hope their friend survives!!! If not, these “friends” will forever be haunted by the decision they made!
If thye were running to the Beer Store at 9:30pm on Tuesday night, and were more worried about its closing at 10pm, than their injured friend, they’ve probably got bigger issues that need dealing with.
Wow what great friends!
