NDP Leader Andrea Horwath wants to cut auto-insurance premiums by 15 per cent in the upcoming spring budget.
Should the minority Ontario Liberal Party not vote in favour of these cuts, as well as several other NDP demands, the NDP says they will initiate a spring election.
The Conservatives have already indicated that they want an election, which is why the minority Liberals need the NDP’s support in order to survive.
If the Liberals don’t get NDP support and fail to pass a bill, they will be forced to call an election.
Auto-insurance fraud is a major concern for Premier Kathleen Wynne and her government, and she says the savings garnered from tackling the problem could be applied as savings to premiums.

If the various levels of government cannot control the fraud taking place by their very own appointed and fairly remunerated members in a controlled environment (Mike Duffy; Pamela Wallin etc.) how do they ever think that they will be able to control fraud in the broad based open market? Make an example out of these politicians that will send a message that fraud is unacceptable at any and all levels and then maybe everyone will learn to respect the law.

Seriously Kathleen, you expect the insurance companies to voluntarily pass the savings made from fraud reductions right along to the consumer? Just like the Oil companies pass along savings when the market price for crude fall. I think not.
I honestly think the Auto Insurance Rates are too High + Should definitely come down by 15% or More. In regard to the Fraud that they Claim uis taking place. I am of the opinion that the Justice System has to Act in this regard + where that has been found the Individuals Should Lose their Driver’s Licenses for a Number of Years. Otherwise everybody is going to Pay for this Problem Forever.
