I literally work right there and can see that intersection from my office window. Since TTC construction began that intersection has become dangerously congested, people are skipping line ups and making left turns from the middle lanes… I myself almost got hit just not three days ago. Changes need to be made before others are hurt or killed as we witnessed today! I will be contacting the city of Vaughn and I encourage others who commute through there do so as well.
I am sure you would not appreciate vehicles driving around an accident scene if it were one of your family members, so please respect the woman who sadly passed away and her grief stricken family because today they lost a daughter, wife and mother
We always tend to blame on someone else when in actual fact “IT’S YOU!!!!” Every time you get behind the wheel remember the rules of the road. We tend to forget and feel we can do what we want, when we want and give no consideration to others on the road. U-turns, improper lane changes, running red lights, following too close, cutting other cars off etc.
So the next time YOU get behind the wheel and drive remember the rules of the road. This worman didn’t have to die today. The family shouldn’t have to be morning her death. YOU can prevent this from happening cause one day it could be YOU or someone you know. My condolences to the family of the victim.
It is a sad scene but why must the police close a main artery in a busy city during rush hour and have thousands of people late and tied up for hours as they investigate a everyday occurence in our city. Close a few lanes.Direct the traffic and keep the city moving. Its not a terorrist act. Its a accident
Someone died! If it was your family; would you not want a through investigation to find out why, how, and who was at fault and charged to the fullest extent of the law with absolutely no technicality that would have charges dropped? Any death closes the area for a minimum of 6 hours for accident investigation to preserve evidence. Doesn’t matter if its a road, home , business, or time of day.
I agree. I work in the area and use that intersection every day. I feel for the family. People going thru that intersection has to slow down, if you want to make a left on Hwy 7 from Interchage Way, you are taking you’re life into you’re own hands. You either get cut off by a Zoom bus or you have to deal with the 2nd lane making an elegal left turn. As you go thru the advance and you have to merge over to get onto the 400 it is awful and on top of those one you have to watch for, you have to look for the ones that pulls out on Hwy 7 to make the right turn coming the other way when you have the advance you have the right to go and if you have to go onto the 400 you are OK but the ones making the right turn at the same time stops you from going over. That intersection should be more watched, especially in busy time and see how many people would get stop for illegal turns.
The guys doing a right hand turn from Edgerly to the right-most lane of HWY 7 West are perfectly legal even when Interchange Way & Edgerly have the Advanced Left turn signals! You turn left from Interchange Way to the LEFT-MOST lane of HWY 7! Then signal right, and start to get over if you want the 400 hwy up ahead. Two trucks can do this at the same time since HWY 7 is 3 lanes; you have a 1 lane (middle) buffer and its legal. It’s the boneheads turning left from Interchange Way illegally turning directly into the middle, and rightmost lanes, instead of the proper leftmost lane that causes this T-Bone style accidents pictured above.
I agree with you about the left turn, people aren’t lying up on the correct lane, they just by pass everyone and make left had turn from the moddle lane, WHERE THE PEEL police donut shop?
You will see Peel [police office there for a while then they we are back to square one.
regarding the fatal accident on hwy 7 between jane and weston rd. I’m not surprised that ther hasn”t been more acciedents on that section of the hwy. the detour is so badly marked that it’s easy to end up on the oncoming lanes. I sent an email approx. 2 weeks ago to let them know that the lane marking shold be made more visible.
MTO or Vaughan really don’t care about making things safe, especially lane markings. The attitude is ‘good enough’ until someone is dies and then we make it a priority. That’s our government and $$$ at work folks.
