TORONTO, Ont. – York Regional Police have seized $800,000 in stolen liquor following the arrest of four suspects.
Officers in York police’s Auto Cargo Theft Unit and the Peel Regional Auto Crime Unit executed search warrants at several storage facilities in the Brampton area on Tuesday.
The warrants were related to an investigation that started in November 2012 regarding the sale of stolen liquor to several Greater Toronto Area businesses and residences.
Search warrants were excuted at the Safe Self Storage at 17 Ardglen Dr. in Brampton, Public Storage at 25 Advances Blvd. in Brampton and Yellow Self Storage at 7360 Bramalea Rd. in Mississauga.
About 2,500 cases of a variety of liquor — valued at $800,000 — were seized through the search warrants.
Bikramjit Mann, 23, of Surrey, B.C., Opinder Singh Sian, 25, of Surrey B.C., Mandeep Paul Bhatoa, 29, of Burnaby, B.C., and Christine Frostad, 28 of Burnaby, B.C., were arrested.
They face charges of possession of stolen property over $5,000, trafficking in property obtained by crime, conspiracy to commit an indictable offence and participation in criminal organization.
All four of the accused have been held in custody pending further investigation.
