York police offer $50K reward in search for missing Richmond Hill woman

RICHMOND HILL, Ont – York Regional Police are offering a $50,000 reward for information that will help them find a missing Richmond Hill woman.

Cheryl Rowe was last seen by her family shortly after midnight on Dec. 22, 2011, on Rathfon Crescent in Richmond Hill. Police believe she was met with foul play.

Det. Bob Papineau said police are confident they are on the right track in regards to who they believe are involved or know what happened to Rowe and hope the reward will encourage them to come forward.

“People have been truthful with us up to a certain point, however, they are reluctant to give us those final clues,” he said Monday.

Rowe’s brother Joe said the family is seeking closure.

“It’s been a roller coaster ride trying to figure out what’s happened to her,” he said.

“We’d really appreciate it if someone out there would give information.”

“We just need that one person to help open up this case.”

Rowe is described as:

  • White
  • 5′
  • 125 lbs.
  • Thin build
  • Short, dark brown hair
  • Brown eyes
  • Last seen wearing dark-coloured jeans, a light-blue two-toned jacket, purple Adidas running shoes and a white baseball hat with a green leaf on the front (a photo of the hat can be seen here)

The reward will be in effect until Jan. 31, 2014 and will not be renewed, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Homicide Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7865, or by e-mail at homicide@yrp.ca.
