3 men charged with stunt driving in separate incidents

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police have charged three men with stunt driving in three separate incidents.
Police said the first incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. Sunday when an officer clocked a 2013 KIA Forte going 144 km/hr on the Don Valley Parkway near Wynford Drive, where the limit is 90 km/hr.
A 22-year-old Pickering man is charged with stunt driving, speeding, driving while under suspension and refusing to give a breath sample.
Police said his licence has been suspended for seven days for the stunt driving charge and 90 days for the charge of refusing to give a breath sample. The vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
In the second incident, shortly after 4 a.m. Sunday, police clocked a 2008 Volkswagen Jetta on Lakeshore Boulevard West travelling at 113 km/hr, where the speed limit is 60 km/hr, according to a CityNews report.
The 25-year-old Toronto man was charged with stunt driving, impaired operation of a motor vehicle and over a blood-alcohol level over 0.08.
Police said they stopped another man around 2 a.m. Monday on the Gardiner Expressway near Islington Avenue after a 2003 Audi A4 was spotted travelling at 188 km/h in 100 km/h zone.
A 37-year-old Toronto man is charged stunt driving and speeding.
Police said his licence has been suspended for seven days and his vehicle has also been impounded for the same period.
Stunt driving charges are laid when a vehicle surpasses the posted speed limit by 50 km/h.
In 2012, police issued 381 licence suspensions for speeding/stunt driving.
