Police canvass Regent Park building where Tyson Bailey was murdered

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police began conducting a door-to-door canvass of the Regent Park apartment building where Bailey was shot.
Officers spoke with residents at the complex, near Dundas and River streets, between 1 p.m. and 9 p.m. on Thursday.
Police were called to the building just after 2 p.m. on Jan. 18 where they found Tyson who had been shot four times. Tyson didn’t live in the building and investigators believe he may have been lured there. Police haven’t revealed a possible motive for the murder.
Days after the shooting, investigators executed search warrants in a 13th floor unit, where a person of interest in the case lives. Cellphones were among the items detectives were searching for.
“We want to piece together the last minutes or hours of Tyson’s life and we believe cellphones would give us a fairly good clue about why he was here,” Det.-Sgt. Justin Vander Heyden told the media outside of the highrise on Jan. 20.
Tyson was a rising junior football star at Central Tech high school and Vander Heyden described him as a “fine young man.”
After his murder, three other youths were shot and killed in the Greater Toronto Area in the past month.
Kesean Williams, nine, was shot in the head in the living room of his Brampton home when someone fired shots at the house from outside on Jan. 23. No arrests have been made.
St. Aubyn Rodney, 15, was shot at 40 Turf Grassway, near Jane Street and Finch Avenue West, on Feb. 11. A 17-year-old boy is charged with manslaughter.
And Jarvis Montaque, 15, was shot to death on Jamestown Crescent on Feb. 17. Police continue to search for his killer.
