Teen surrenders to police after Jane and St. Clair shooting

TORONTO – An 18-year-old man has turned himself in to Toronto Police after a shooting near Jane Street and St. Clair Avenue on Sunday morning.

A 17-year-old boy was shot in the abdomen on Woolner Avenue around 12:50 a.m. His injuries are not life threatening, police said.

It is alleged that the suspect approached the teen, produced a handgun from his waistband and shot the victim.

Police say the suspect then chased the victim on foot, firing several shots, before fleeing the scene.

The victim was taken to a local hospital.

Jevaun Anthony Beharie turned himself to police on Monday night. He is charged with attempted murder and seven other weapons-related charges.

Beharie is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
