A special five-judge panel from the Ontario Court of Appeal will gather to consider the constitutionality of minimum sentences for several gun-crime laws.
The meeting will last from Tuesday through Friday
The panel will look at six cases that all deal with the constitutionality of the federal government’s legislation from five years ago that introduced stiffer penalties for gun crimes.
The penalty for gun crimes, enacted in 2008, raised the minimum sentence to three years from one year.

It’s pretty simple really. Don’t commit the crime.
Mandatory minimum sentence for gun possession ,IS MISLEADING…. HAVING A GUN AND USING IT IN A CRIME IS COMPLETLY TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.
Umm, I don’t think they are taking action against legitimate gun owners. If you are not licences to have a firearm there is no legal reason why you are in possession of one. Waiting for the crime to happen is an added bonus I guess.
