MONTREAL – Hockey greats and political leaders are among those who gathered today to remember longtime Quebec sports journalist Richard Garneau.
Garneau, a popular Radio-Canada television personality, died last month at age 82.
Ex Habs Serge Savard, Yvan Cournoyer and Rejean Houle attended the memorial, as did Quebec Premier Pauline Marois.
Garneau spent more than two decades on the French-language CBC’s version of “Hockey Night In Canada,” in addition to working as a sports reporter since joining the network in 1957.
He was named to the Hockey Hall of Fame, wrote several books and covered 23 Olympic Games as well as the Tour de France.
