For families: The Beach will be the place to be this Family Day long weekend. A petting zoo, ice sculpting and rides on a vintage trolley will be included in the Family Day Sunday fun in the popular neighbourhood. Kew Gardens, Queen Street East and Lee Avenue. For visitors: Check out the 40th edition of the Canadian International Auto Show. More than 40 new vehicles will make their Canadian debut at the event at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front St. W. Friday noon – 10 p.m., Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. Runs through until Feb. 24. Tickets are $19.80 for adults and $6.30 for kids (seven-12 years old). www.autoshow.ca

For singles: Hey, wanna see a ghost? Those interested in a potential paranormal experience should head to Casa Loma this weekend to tag along with ghost hunters. The experts will guide visitors on a mini tour of the famed castle in an effort to capture some evidence of the afterlife. 1 Austin Terr. (Spadina and Davenport roads). For charity: If you’ve been considering adding a pet to your family, you may find a match at a Toronto Cat Rescue Adopt-a-thon in North York this weekend. Felines of all ages looking for a permanent home will be waiting at the Pet Valu at Lawrence and Bathurst. 486 Lawrence Ave. W. For kicks: Are you a Jane Austen fan who wants to party like it’s 1799? Well here’s your chance — don a top hat and tails or your most fetching empire dress and head to the Midwinter Masquerade Ball.
