TORONTO – Toronto Mayor Rob Ford has made nice with the city’s top doctor.
Nearly a year after criticizing medical officer of health Dr. David McKeown on the radio, Ford has apologized.
The apology is included in the integrity commissioner’s report, which is posted on the city’s website.
It said Ford apologized to McKeown on Tuesday and the doctor accepted.
In April 2012, Ford called McKeown’s salary an embarrassment. His comments came after the Ministry of Health released a report on cycling and walking in the city and suggested lowering the speed limit.

Classy comments. This from a guy who didn’t finish university at Carleton, and returned to Toronto after being cut from the football team, speaking to a highly educated and experienced Doctor. I like Mayor Ford and hope he’s the mayor for a while yet. But a guy with his build probably shouldn’t antagonize doctors. Just saying…
