The Automotive Journalists Association of Canada has awarded the 2013 Canadian “car of the year” to the Honda Accord Sedan. The award for the top utility vehicle went to the Hyundai Santa Fe.
The Accord beat out the Porsche Boxter and Hyundai Elantra GT for the top prize.
The vehicles underwent thorough testing, including more than 40,000 data points gathered by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada, in the evaluation.
Honda Canada President Takashi Sekiguchi thanked the company’s engineers in accepting the award at the Toronto auto show.
This announcement came ahead of the Canadian International Auto Show, which opens Friday at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
Forty vehicles will make their debut at the auto show. Some 1,000 cars, SUVs and trucks will be on display, as the show marks its 40th anniversary.

I believe the P.T cruiser made the list of “worst 10 vehicles of the decade” and are now few on the road considering how many were manufactured, makes you wonder what 40000 data points AJAC members consider, the ones with the $$$ symbols in front?
The 2001 AJAC Canadian Car of the Year was the PT Cruiser… Enough said.
lol i agree, the car is terribly outdated in design both interior and exterior.. under the hood as well this car lacks in so many departments.. don’t spaz with bias arguments please, go compare spec per spec vs other cars than talk… not saying accord is the worst but it’s no where near top for sure.
Apparently, 40 000 data points and a huge pile of care experts disagree – spec per spec. ‘Nuff said.
rofl,
the same morons picked pt cruiser as car of the year in 2001.. what was that based on? 5 million data points? nearly everyone has internet surfing capabilities today.. google specs for car v car and compare for yourself.. stop taking press printer word as no.1 source lol again, PT Cruiser, car of the year in 2001 rofl
It’s also one of the safest cars out there. It received the Top safety pick + (plus), which is difficult to obtain compared to the regular top safety pick.
The Honda Accord Sedan? It’s boring, uninspired and light years behind in design. Someone needs taste or a payoff.
Really? Really? “Light years behind in design”? How so? From what?
He probably doesn’t realize it’s re-designed for 2013.
never been to the show, hope to break that and attend this year.
