'Harlem Shake' is latest viral video craze

A 30-second dance could be this year’s answer to viral video Gangnam Style, which took the Internet by storm and introduced the world to South Korean pop star Psy in 2012.

The first Harlem Shake video was uploaded to YouTube on Feb. 2 and since then, more than 12,000 tribute videos have been uploaded to YouTube.

In all, the various videos been viewed more than 44 million times.

The meme is exploding, YouTube trends manager Kevin Allocca said in a post, with over 4,000 of these videos uploaded per day. Allocca said that number is still likely on the rise.

Each video is set to the song Harlem Shake by Baauer and begins with one person dancing alone while everyone else ignores the dancer. Then, the beat drops and the whole room is dancing.
