Teen boy dies in Jane-Finch shooting

TORONTO – A 15-year-old boy has died in hospital after being shot in the Jane Street and Finch Avenue West area Monday night, Toronto police confirm to 680News.

The teen was shot in the torso at around 10:30 p.m. Monday night inside a third-floor apartment, located at 40 Turf Grassway.

Police are questioning three persons of interest, but so far, no charges have been laid.

Residents in the building told 680News the victim was nicknamed “Tubby.”

The teen is the third young person to be killed in the GTA in less than a month.

On Jan. 18, Central Tech football player Tyson Bailey, 15, was shot to death in a stairwell in a Regent Park apartment building.

Then on Jan. 23, Kesean Williams, 9, died in Brampton after a single gunshot pierced the window of his home.

Councillor Adam Vaughan, who has been pressing for a bullet ban for a while now, told 680News this is heartbreaking.

“It does so much damage and so many people in the community are torn apart too. We have to start looking at ways to combat this,” Vaughan said.

The city’s executive committee dismissed Vaughan’s bullet ban idea last summer.
