The SIU has launched an investigation after a shooting injury to a 31-year-old man Sunday evening in Scarborough.
At approximately 7 p.m. on Sunday night, Toronto Police responsed to a call to an apartment building at 1 Lee Centre Drive near McCowan Road and Hwy. 401.
When police arrived there was an interaction on the eighth floor between a man and officers.
One of the officers discharged his firearm.
The man was taken to Sunnybrook hospital for treatment.
A female, also in her 30′s, was transported to a local trauma centre with stab wounds to her neck.
Both are in serious condition.
The SIU has assigned three investigators and two forensic investigators to probe the circumstances of this incident.
The Special Investigations Unit is Ontario’s police watchdog, and is called anytime a person is hurt or killed in an incident involving police.
