TORONTO, Ont. – A 23-year-old woman who died in hospital after being located by Toronto police in a North York home with “apparent trauma” Saturday was strangled, police said.
A post-mortem examination determined the cause of death to be manual strangulation, police said Monday.
The name of the victim is not being released pending notification of next-of-kin.
Police responded to a call for unknown trouble at a home on Clancy Drive in the Don Mills Road and Van Horne Avenue area on Saturday shortly after 2 p.m.
A woman was found inside the home suffering from apparent trauma to the body.
She was transported to hospital where she died.
Mohamed Adam Bharwani, 18, of Toronto, is charged with first-degree murder.
Police have not disclosed the connection between the accused and the victim.
