Almost always exciting and sometimes controversial, the Super Bowl halftime show was no different in New Orleans this year.

Beyonce took the stage and performed several of her biggest hits, with the show complete with fan participation, lightshows and pyrotechnics.

While the general consensus seemed to be that the production value and dancing were great, others were more critical of the performance itself.

“Beyonce was flat….two likely reasons….either she couldn’t hear herself (monitor fail) or she sung out her voice practising too much too long too hard (vocal chord shot temporarily),” said John on the 680News Facebook page.

Some said the microphone was too quiet while others criticized the quality of the singing, with some defending the performance and calling it one of the best they had ever seen.

“She sounded great. Flat? I don’t think so. You try and sing AND dance in front of that many people……,” said Jennifer on the 680News Facebook page.

Others compared it to recent Super Bowl halftime shows, with some saying it was better than previous attempts and others not agreeing.

“Thought it was good and she sang well, but Madonna’s show last year was better, and Prince is still the best,” said Mark on the 680News Facebook page.

While opinions were, of course, varied, the fans at the Super Bowl seemed to be wowed by the live performance.
