Two women in their 30s are in hospital after they were struck by a vehicle in the city’s west end.

It happened shortly before 9 p.m. at Lawrence Avenue West and Culford Road, near Keele Street.

EMS told CityNews one of the women was transported to a trauma centre with lower extremity injuries.

There has been no word on the extent of the other woman’s injuries.

Police say the two women were walking on the sidewalk when they noticed someone with vehicle problems and offered to help.

Witnesses told CityNews the two women were pushing the car when they were struck from behind by another vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle has been arrested. There has been no word on charges.

There were unconfirmed reports from witnesses saying the driver of the vehicle was driving wrecklessly before the collision.

Police say alcohol is not believed to be a factor.

Police have arrested the driver of the offending car, but not charged.
