TORONTO – Higher GO Transit fares will be effect starting Friday.
GO said the increases are necessary to improve the service with things like more parking, and more frequent bus and train trips.
The new fares will rise between 35 and 55 cents, depending on the trip’s length.
It’s a smaller increase for Presto card holders.

Yeah parking is a huge issue for many lots. Even the lakeshore lines, where trains run many at rush hour and then every hour until midnight are pretty much pointless if people can’t park at the lots (full at 7:30am).
There’s all this talk about subway this and that, why can’t we make more use of our GO lines? It’s unbelievable that the north south lines only get a handful of south and northbound trains per day (in one direction at a time). If metrolinks wants to curb traffic congestions…more trains is the way to do it.
New York, London, Chicago…all rely very heavily on trains to get their commuters in from the suburbs.
There are so many improvements that GO could and should be making. I live in Richmond Hill, and although we now have 3 parking lots, there is not enough parking for people riding the train. It is a disgrace that trains come up from the city empty as well. Is going really trying to say that there are not people whom work over night shifts who wouldn’t use the train to come home in the mornings? One train every hour? That’s so sad. There are so many improvements that need to be made.
didnt the fare just go up? i used to pay 7.35 or so from newmarket to union and then it went to 7.50. im confused are you telling me that its going to raise yet again in less then a year?
It would be nice to start seeing service improvements….
