Dicey commute due to icy roads, blowing snow

Motorists are being urged to drive with caution after due to icy roads and blowing snow in the GTA, Thursday.

In Toronto, the collector lanes of the westbound Gardiner Expressway were closed for around an hour between Islington and Kipling avenues.

A collision also closed westbound Lake Shore Boulevard West at Ellis Avenue for most of the morning rush.

Peel police reported numerous crashes, including one near Goreway and Deerhurst drives in Brampton which sent a two-and-a-half-year-old boy to hospital with head injuries.

Police also said buses and vehicles weren’t even able to get uphill in some places because road conditions were so poor.

Environment Canada issued a a snow squall warning for Toronto, including parts of the GTA and cottage country.
