Although I don’t support tailgating my advise to those who complain about being tailgated. If you see someone behind you in the rear view mirror following closely, look around yourself and I guarantee that most of the time you will be in the left lane on the highway driving 90, or driving at the same speed of 40-50 in the 60 zone with a car parallel to you. Switch lanes, tailgating will stop, Let other drivers pass, don’t worry about them stopping at the red light or getting a speeding ticket, it will become their problem – not yours. Also remember, green light means “start moving”, there are other drivers behind you who would like to pass that intersection as well. I have noticed in the past few year a significant amount of drivers who create bad situations on the road by switching lanes without checking blind spot or not paying attention to hwy signs and moving across 2-3 lanes to exit off highway. These kinds of maneuvers create accidents. Showing turn signals at the last moment doesn’t mean the rest of cars have to stop and let you pass, their speeds might be different than yours, calculate it accordingly… the list goes on, sometimes one wonders how some of the drivers out there even pass their driving tests these days….
I agree with the other 2 comments. People don’t get it. It was the same thing last Monday morning, roads were the same or worst than this morning. Travelling on roads and they are literally in you’re trunk. The ones that are driving like that don’t have much of a brain thinking if the car they are following so close, if that care goes out of control or the ones in front where do they think they are gone end up. I wish there would be more patrols on the road and take those idiots out, because there are a lot of them. Even in god days, nobody goes the speed limit, you are in a 60 zones and if you don’t slow down the cars behind you because you might ge going 5 or 10 over, the ones behind you would be going at least 100 if not more in a 60. People are such in a rush to go ahead of you and end up at a red light.
I agree. Everyone I had behind me this morning on my way to work (bayview ext, DVP, Gardiner) were following me way too closely. I drive a Subaru with symmetrical AWD and even I was taking it slow and steady. The streets in my area were treacherous. The main roads weren’t even that great. STOP TAILGATING!!!!!!
Seriously though, stop following so closely on the highway. MF17 is right. OPP, where are you on the highway, start ticketing these idiots.
SLOW DOWN and stop following each other so closely!! Give yourselves room to brake and move out of the way should the person in front of you slam on their brakes! Use your heads people!!!! Drive according to the weather and road conditions! This is NOT the middle of July so STOP DRIVING LIKE IT IS!!!!!
