CALEDON, Ont. – A former roommate has been arrested in Calgary in the slaying of a 20-year-old Toronto woman in 2011.
Kera Freeland was last seen in Toronto on Jan. 16, 2011, and her body was discovered two months later in a ditch in Caledon, about 70 kilometres to the northwest.
Based on evidence obtained from the autopsy, investigators believe she died around the time of her disappearance.
Ontario Provincial Police say 35-year-old Christopher Andronakos was arrested without incident and has been charged with second-degree murder.
Police say he has appeared in court in Calgary and will be returned to Ontario.
OPP say they are continuing the investigation in Alberta in co-operation with Calgary police.
