HAMILTON, Ont. – Hamilton officials have fired 29 city employees for what they call “inappropriate behaviour” including neglect of duties, time theft and breach of trust.
The city says another two employees have been suspended for 30 days without pay.
A news release announcing the decision does not elaborate on the accusations against the employees, but says the investigation continues.
City manager Chris Murray says the breach is “serious” and requires “immediate and significant action.”
The city’s manager of public works, meanwhile, says the group’s conduct is “very disappointing” but doesn’t reflect on other city staff.
Gerry Davis says the department is comprised of “dedicated and faithful employees who take pride in the work they do.”
