TORONTO, Ont. – A 50-year-old Toronto woman is charged with second-degree murder in the death of a man whose body was found in a west-end basement apartment Saturday.
Leahann Hohmann was arrested Wednesday.
Jose Ignacio Ortiz, 65, died of blunt force trauma in his basement apartment on Melville Avenue Saturday night.
Emergency crews were called to the west-end home near Ossington Avenue and Dupont Street to investigate a suspected natural gas leak when the body of Ortiz was found in the basement apartment.
Hohmann is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning.
Ortiz is Toronto’s fourth homicide victim of 2013.
