Burke had to go… simple, His philosophy not to pay out for big 10+year multi-million dollar contracts, means that the Leafs would NEVER get any star players. He would have continued to have signed 3rd and 4th line level players HOPING AND PRAYING along with all the Fans that there would be a diamond in the rough eventually. Leaf Fans are sick of it…we are the richest team in the league with only a couple of decent players.. Kessel is NOT a superstar people! We need to START BUYING not just ok players but PHENOMENALl players….we have the money, just do it….forget the rebuilding…you can’t rebuild by acquiring average to low quality players…That’s why Burke had to go…he would have just kept doing the same thing. Luongo we gotta have. I hope they don’t screw it up. Despite his recent flaws he still blows away what we have now by miles.
