Free transit service on New Year’s Eve

As an added incentive to prevent the public from drinking and driving, public transit systems across the GTA are offering their riders complimentary service this New Year’s Eve.

Toronto Transit Service

The Toronto Transit Commission has announced that riders can use the service for free after 10 p.m. until 4 a.m, Jan. 1.

Subway service has been extended with the last train on the Yonge-University-Spadina line leaving Union station at 3:30 a.m. for Finch station and 3:34 a.m. for Downsview station.

Last trains on the Bloor-Danforth subway line will leave Bloor-Yonge at 3:37 a.m. for Kipling station and at 3:37 a.m. for Kennedy station.

The last train on the Scarborough RT will leave Kennedy station at 4:07 a.m. for McCowan station.

On the Sheppard subway the last train will leave the Sheppard-Yonge line at 3:58 a.m. for Don Mills station.

Subway, bus and streetcar service will run until 4 a.m. Jan. 1. and regular service will resume at 9 a.m.

City of Brampton Transit Service

Brampton Bus riders can ride for free this NYE beginning at 7 p.m. Some routes will have detours around the downtown area and others will have extended service.

GO Transit

GO Transit will offer free service on NYE beginning at 8 p.m. Service will also be extended with early homebound/late-night service.

York Region and Viva Transit Service

YRT/Viva is offering complimentary service on New Year’s Eve, starting at 7 p.m. to help partygoers get to their destinations and back home safely.

This complimentary service extends to select YRT/Viva routes, including Mobility Plus, TTC and Brampton Transit operating in York Region.

Select routes and Mobility Plus will operate extended service until approximately 4 a.m. Community Bus routes and Dial-a-Ride services will operate on regular schedules.

All regular service will be resuming Jan. 1 at 9 a.m.
