UFA, Russia – The International Ice Hockey Federation has suspended Canadian forward JC Lipon for one game at the world junior hockey championship.

Lipon checked Slovak forward Tomas Mikus behind Slovakia’s net in the first period of Canada’s 6-3 win Friday.

The Kamloops Blazer was given a major and a game misconduct.

Mikus was not injured on the play. He scored a power-play goal on his next shift.

Canada will be minus two forwards for Sunday’s game against the United States.

Boone Jenner will serve the third of a three-game suspension he was assessed on the even of the tournament.
