TORONTO, Ont. – A major crash on the Don Valley Parkway has sent a woman to hospital with what are being described as very serious injuries.
The 22-year-old woman’s vehicle spun out of control and struck a guard rail in the southbound lanes, just south of Eglinton Avenue.
She was then hit by another vehicle, according to Sergeant Moore with the Toronto Police Traffic Services Unit.
“There was a car southbound on the DVP, just south of Eglinton, that car reported to have hit the westside guardrail,” Moore said.
“When it hit the guard rail it re-entered the roadway and was struck again by another southbound vehicle.”
Police have not yet speculated on a cause of the crash.
“There are no reports of excessive speed, but it’s (an) early stage in the investigation, and all of those aspects are being looked into,” Moore said.
“There is no information at my disposal at this point that would suggest speed was a factor.”
The collision reconstruction team was on the scene for more than an hour, with the DVP being closed to traffic in the area. Cars already on the DVP were left backed-up for at least an hour following the crash.
Anyone who saw the incident is being asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

Police should be looking at the cameras along the Death Valley Parking Lot (DVP) for evidence.. Or are those cameras not recorded?
Something isn’t quite right here. If drivers are stopped on the *southbound* DVP at Eglinton, why would that affect anyone exiting at Don Mills? The Don Mills exit is further south. Perhaps you meant the Wynford Drive exit?
More quality reporting… How can people be stuck SOUTHBOUND between Eg and Don Mills? They would be stuck NORTH of the Eglinton exit unless NB is closed as well.
