The Canadian Broadcast Standards council has come down with a ruling against Mayor Rob Ford’s radio show in relation to abusive comments about George Smitherman.
The comments were made by Conservative commentator David Menzies on May 6.
Menzies was responding to questions about the mayor’s obesity and the possibility that he could suffer a heart attack in office.
Menzies hypothesized about asking Smitherman a similar question regarding contracting HIV.
The council ruled that the comments about the openly gay Smitherman violated its code of ethics.
As part of the conditions, the radio station must announce the ruling on air.

To Mr. Ford’s defense, his weight/obesity is none of Mr. Smither’s business. I sense his “concern” is just a thinly veiled way to attack and mock Mr. Ford’s size. How Mr. Ford responded might have been what Mr. Smither’s wanted, Yes, Mr Ford makes choices to be obnoxious but so did Mr. Smithers.
Yes, I know I spelt his name Smithers.
“spelt” his name? As in, spelt linguini?!
