Santa, Mrs. Claus make appearance on TTC

There was a surprise for some morning TTC commuters, Tuesday, as both Santa and Mrs. Claus showed up at various stations to pay a visit to both young and old.

Riding on the Red Rocket, the two – accompanied by an elf – stepped off the train at Yonge-Bloor station and spread holiday cheer, wishing a merry Christmas to everyone on the TTC, giving out candy canes and taking time to speak to youngsters on the platform.

“Bloor station, what an excellent station!” Santa remarked as he strolled along the platform.

The older generations were equally enamoured with Santa’s and Mrs. Claus’ visit, the latter played by TTC Chair Karen Stintz.

“We’ve had a really nice response,” Stintz told 680News. “We’re out, just celebrating the holiday season, making sure our riders know that we appreciate them, passing out candy canes and just celebrating the holidays.”

When asked if this was better than spending the day at City Hall, she responded “we’re certainly having a little more fun on the subway.”
