Police arrest man who tried to escape by jumping across rooftops

TORONTO, Ont. – A man has been arrested after he made a daring escape attempt early Saturday morning after police attempted to pull him over.

The situation began around 2 a.m. in the Dundas and Bathurst Streets area when police attempted to pull the man over.

Police briefly pursued the male driver, who eventually abandoned his vehicle and fled the scene, climbing onto the rooftops of the townhomes on Wales Avenue.

A team of police dogs and fire crews set up a perimeter in the area in an attempt to track down the suspect. The search ended when police were able to arrest him in a back alleyway.

Police tell 680News many charges related to dangerous driving will be laid, adding that the man was out on bail conditions and violated a curfew.
