Police said Thursday that the report turned out to be a prank after reviewing surveillance footage.
Officers were called to the Keele Campus following an eyewitness report that a person was forced into a van.
“Police have investigated the incident and spoken with the people involved,” police said.
“It has been revealed it was a prank played between the people involved.”
York University released a statement Thursday saying it had increased campus security following the report.
Police did not specify whether those involved will be punished.
