MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – If you live in Mississauga, Ont., Mayor Hazel McCallion wants you to know that your property taxes will not be going up 7.8 per cent.
The mayor told 680News several regional newspapers misunderstood the budget numbers.
McCallion pointed out that although the total operating budget will increase by up to seven per cent, the property tax increase will be much lower than that.
“The increase and the taxed increase will be somewhere under three per cent, not over three per cent,” McCallion.
She also said some of the operating budget’s increase includes a two per cent levy to keep the city’s infrastructure in good shape.
