BURLINGTON, Ont. – A five-year-old girl was taken to hospital with a head wound and broken leg after a car struck her and a 77-year-old crossing guard Wednesday.
The girl and the crossing guard were struck in front of Maplehurst Public School near Plains and King roads in Burlington shortly before 4 p.m. The pair was struck by a westbound sedan, driven by an 80-year-old man.
The girl was thrown several metres and was taken to a trauma centre, police said. The crossing guard sustained minor injuries.
The driver remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said.
