Police in York Region say whoever stole a soil density gauge from a construction site last week may be putting their health at risk.
The gauge was stolen from the Vaughan site, near Major MacKenzie and Highway 27, on November 21.
Police say the device – which was reported missing Wednesday – contains a small quantity of depleted radioactive material that can be harmful to those nearby if the unit is damaged, improperly handled or used incorrectly.
The device has a bright yellow base and was manufactured by Humboldt Company.
They’re urging anyone who finds it to stay at least five metres away and call police or Crime Stoppers immediately.
