TORONTO, Ont. – An 89-year-old woman is dead after she was struck by a vehicle and pinned beneath it Monday.
The woman was struck near Fairlawn Avenue and Elm Road in the Avenue-Lawrence area shortly after 3 p.m.
Emergency crews were unable to lift the vehicle off the woman who sustained severe head trauma and succumbed to her injures at the site of the collision.
Police said an 88-year-old female driver was travelling southbound on Elm Road approaching Fairlawn Avenue. The victim was crossing to east side of Elm Road when she was struck.
The driver remained at the scene. So far, no charges have been laid.
