GO Transit riders can expect to pay more for their ride early next year.
GO will ask Metrolinx to implement a fare increase that would take effect Feb. 1.
The board is considering an incremental fare increase of $0.35, $0.45 or $0.55 for the cost of an adult single-ride ticket.
The fares will vary depending on the station and distance travelled.
For those currently paying a cash fare of $7.35, the fare will be raised by 55 cents. However, it will amount to less for commuters travelling shorter distances, as well as for Presto card users.
The fare hike should bring in another $20-million for GO Transit, to help pay for more parking and bigger trains in 2013.
