TORONTO, Ont. – A total of $3-million worth of counterfeit goods have been seized by police and 10 people have been arrested, investigators announced on Monday.

“Our investigations show the trade in counterfeit goods is a highly organized criminal activity,” a police spokesman said.

“I would like to ask everyone to keep in mind, if they choose to buy cheap counterfeit goods, you are putting your family at risk, and in addition, you are supporting organized criminal activity.”

Investigators are calling it one of the largest seizures of counterfeit goods in Toronto history, and included items such as medication, batteries, purses and boots.

Tests on one counterfeit down jacket revealed that it contained chicken parts and German shepherd fur.

As a result, police said many counterfeit goods are unsafe and can do harm.

The 10 people who face charges are expected to appear in court next month.
