A study suggests that concussions are more prevalent among elite male and female hockey players than originally reported.

Sports medicine doctors followed the players on two Canadian University hockey teams during the 201-2012 season to conduct the study.   

The study found that the incidence of concussions was three times higher in males and more than five times greater in females than previous research found.         
       
The study was published in the Journal of Neural-Surgical Focus.
