Canada is the 9th best place to be born on the planet, according to new data.

The Economist Intelligence Unit looks at happiness, crime rates, geography and economic issues to determine which birth country will provide the best chance of a healthy, safe and prosperous life.

The 2012 survey found Switzerland in first place, followed by Australia, Norway, Sweden and Denmark.
      
The U.S. ranked 16th, while Britain came in 27th place.
