Seneca College’s King Campus deemed safe after threat

KING CITY, Ont. – An unspecified threat prompted the evacuation of Seneca College’s King Campus Wednesday.

The campus was deemed safe by York region police Wednesday evening. Classes will resume Thursday as scheduled.

Police said they received an anonymous phone call at 2 p.m. indicating that the campus, in the Dufferin Street and King Road area, was a target.

The threat prompted school officials to enforce a lockdown of the campus. Staff and students were eventually evacuated by police.

Police have not released any details about the threat. No injuries were reported.

Classes and activities were cancelled for the rest of the day. A daycare on site was closed. All children at the daycare were safe.
