TORONTO, Ont. – City council has voted to highlight the 10-minute grace period at Toronto’s parking meters on the city website.
Even though the measure was passed in July, Councillor Josh Matlow said not enough people know they are able to fight a ticket if given shortly after the payment in the meter expires.
The move to highlight the grace period was discussed by council on Tuesday night.
According to the Toronto Star, almost 3-million tickets are issued each year, bringing in an estimated $21-million after expenses.
