TORONTO, Ont. – A 21-year-old man was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he was trapped under a tractor-trailer that rolled over on the Gardiner Expressway Monday.
Toronto police said the tractor-trailer was travelling westbound in the Gardiner express lanes, east of Islington Avenue, around 10:15 a.m.
The tractor-trailed rolled over onto a vehicle in the adjacent lane when it swerved to avoid an SUV that had swerved to avoid debris on the roadway.
It took nearly two hours to free the man trapped in the vehicle beneath the tractor-trailer. An Ornge air ambulance was requested but later cancelled and the man was taken to hospital via ground ambulance.
Two other people were also treated for minor injuries.
All express lanes have since been fully reopened.
