TORONTO, Ont. – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas at the corner of Bathurst and Bloor.

Honest Ed’s is continuing its 25-year tradition and giving out over 12,000 pounds of free turkeys, in addition to plenty of fruitcakes.

The free-turkey giveaway to the public at Christmastime was started by Toronto’s legendary entrepreneur Ed Mirvish in 1987.

His son David Mirvish has continued the tradition, which is one of Toronto’s best-known events.

This year’s giveaway will take place Sunday December 2 at 10 a.m. outside Honest Ed’s, located at 581 Bloor Street West.

The turkey and fruitcake will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis.
